Placement and Monitoring of Privately Sponsored Students:<\/strong> The Foundation administers the educational programs of Lebanese students who are privately funded.\u00a0 In doing so the Foundation evaluates the students\u2019 academic credentials, helps the students submit applications to appropriate institutions, follows up with the institutions on the status of their applications, counsels the students on academic and career decisions, and monitors their progress through the completion of their academic programs. The Foundation also serves as liaison between these students and academic institutions and immigration officials. In addition, non-sponsored Lebanese students, who recognize our knowledge of the educational systems in North America and our extensive contacts with educational institutions, frequently ask the Foundation to advise them on college selection and to write letters of recommendation on their behalf.<\/p>\n Hariri Fellowship, Georgetown University McDonough School of Business:<\/span><\/b> Each fall, we assist Georgetown’s scholarship committee in selecting the recipient of the Hariri Fellowship for the MBA cycle.\u00a0This year we were fortunate to have one merit recipient of this award, bringing the number of awardees to 14 since the academic year 2013-2014.\u00a0<\/span> For more information, contact Ms. Christiane G. Buck at\u00a0Cbuck@hfusa.org<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n Saad Hariri Endowed Undergraduate Scholarship:\u00a0<\/span><\/b>This is a financial needs-based scholarship awarded to Georgetown students attending the McDonough School of Business.\u00a0 Since the academic year 2013-2014, the scholarship has been awarded to four students as the award could cover up to four years of their undergraduate studies. The current student will not be completing her program until May 2026. Though we are not involved in the selection process of the students, Georgetown University sends us their academic profiles.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Boston University\/Hariri Foundation Scholarship Program<\/span><\/b>: This program, initiated in 1988 with an agreement between Hariri Foundation and former Boston University president John Silber, has funded nearly 200 of our students\u2019 master\u2019s degrees, in the amount of 3 million dollars. Under this program the Foundation nominates highly qualified candidates from Lebanon for a limited number of scholarships which cover full tuition for two years of graduate study in master’s degree programs. Students must receive an unconditional admission to Boston University in order to be considered for this program. Due to BU\u2019s financial aid budget constraints and a change in administration, this program came to an end with the graduation of the final scholarship recipient in May 2024. Buck at<\/span>\u00a0Cbuck@hfusa.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n Research Science Institute<\/strong>: Each year the Foundation selects several outstanding math and science high school juniors from Lebanon to attend a six-week long Research Science Institute (RSI), which is held jointly by the Center for Excellence in Education (CEE) and MIT. The Hariri Foundation was the first Arab organization to participate in the RSI program. Starting with 1993 and continuing to the present, the foundation has sponsored a total of 78 RSI participants. In addition, the foundation assists CEE by selecting candidates from Lebanon who receive funding from a source other than the Hariri Foundation.
